Volodymyr Lytvyn: The Visit of the President of Kazakhstan will give Impetus to the Cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan
On Wednesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn,
Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,
met Nursultan Nazarbayev,
President of the Republic
of Kazakhstan.
The Parties discussed the state and prospects of economic, international and humanitarian cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the visit aimed at the extension of economic relations and enhancement of commercial exchange between Ukraine and Kazakhstan. N. Nazarbayev believes that the commercial exchange in the amount of USD 3.5 billion is not sufficient.
He singled out the main areas of cooperation, namely, agricultural engineering, agriculture, processing industry, construction, energy sector, space research, and transport communications. N. Nazarbayev informed about a new Ukraine-Kazakhstan action plan for 2010-2011 concerning participation of Ukrainian companies in the industrial development of Kazakhstan till the year 2020.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan stressed that "implementation of several plans shall be ratified by full-fledged agreements and legislative provisions." He believes that the parliaments of both States should closely cooperate at the level of parliament members and inter-parliamentary groups. He also called for boosting integration of the post-Soviet states and extending the Single Economic Space.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine declared that the
Ukrainian Parliament "will take necessary action and pass the required
resolutions, as the relations with Kazakhstan have always been stable."
He supported the appeal of N.Nazarbayev for boosting the parliamentary cooperation,
having suggested holding the inter-parliamentary meetings.
V.Lytvyn highly appreciated the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine. He stressed that experience of Kazakhstan was of great importance, since "this country preserved peace and stability, esp. in the implementation of drastic reforms." He attaches great importance to this fact "under the conditions of ongoing globalization, when the world becomes more competitive, and the people face the new rules of co-existence."
The Head of the Parliament believes that Ukraine and Kazakhstan face similar challenges. He hopes that Ukraine has an opportunity to make actual changes. He declared that "the scheduled economic projects will boost our economy and life." "The today´s visit will give impetus to the cooperation, and bear a positive influence not only on the bilateral relations," the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.
V.Lytvyn underscored the importance
of cooperation in the humanitarian sector. He expressed his gratitude to the
leaders of Kazakhstan for preparing
the celebration of the 200th anniversary of birth of T.H.Shevchenko. V.Lytvyn called for taking action to make
this event international.
